The Slytherin Crest & Colours
The Slytherin crest is marked by a silver serpent coiled against a field of deep emerald green. Salazar Slytherin chose the snake as his emblem because he himself was a Parselmouth, able to speak to serpents, and because the snake embodies the cunning, subtlety, and ambition the house treasures. The Slytherin Common Room & Dormitories

Part of the room extends beneath the Black Lake, so its great windows look out not onto the grounds but into the green, weed-tangled depths of the water.
