In the Third Task, both Cedric and Harry reached the Triwizard Cup simultaneously. Cedric insisted they take it together, sharing the victory. This act of sportsmanship tragically sealed his fate — the Cup was a Portkey that transported them to the Little Hangleton graveyard, where Peter Pettigrew killed Cedric on Voldemort's orders with the words "Kill the spare."
Legacy & Remembrance
Cedric's death marked the beginning of the Second Wizarding War. Dumbledore honored him in his end-of-year speech, urging students to remember that Cedric died because he was brave, good, and loyal — the very qualities that defined Hufflepuff House.
