Key Moments

Surviving Voldemort's killing curse as a baby
On the night of October 31, 1981, Lord Voldemort arrived at Godric's Hollow to kill the infant prophesied to be his downfall. After murdering James and Lily Potter, the Killing Curse rebounded off baby Harry, destroying Voldemort's body and leaving only a lightning-bolt scar. Lily's sacrificial love created a protection so ancient and powerful that it shattered the darkest wizard of all time.

Being sorted into Gryffindor despite the Sorting Hat's consideration of Slytherin
The Sorting Hat sensed great ambition and resourcefulness in Harry, qualities that would have served him well in Slytherin. But Harry's desperate whisper — 'Not Slytherin' — revealed his deepest values: courage over cunning. The Hat honored his choice, placing him in Gryffindor, proving that it is our choices that show what we truly are.

Catching the Golden Snitch in his first Quidditch match
In his very first game, Harry became the youngest Seeker in a century when he caught the Snitch in his mouth during a near-fatal dive. Despite having his broomstick jinxed by Professor Quirrell, Harry's natural flying instinct — inherited from his father — proved undeniable. It was the beginning of a legendary Quidditch career at Hogwarts.

Destroying Tom Riddle's diary with a Basilisk fang
Deep in the Chamber of Secrets, a twelve-year-old Harry faced a memory of teenage Voldemort and a sixty-foot Basilisk. After Fawkes blinded the serpent and the Sorting Hat delivered the Sword of Gryffindor, Harry slew the beast but was mortally poisoned by its fang. He used that same venom-soaked fang to stab the diary — unknowingly destroying his first Horcrux.

Casting a corporeal Patronus to save Sirius Black
At the shores of the Black Lake, over a hundred Dementors descended upon Harry, Sirius, and Hermione. Using a Time-Turner loop, Harry realized the powerful Patronus he'd seen wasn't cast by his father — it was cast by himself. His stag Patronus, Prongs, erupted across the lake in a blinding wave of silver light, driving back every Dementor and saving his godfather's soul.

Witnessing Cedric Diggory's death and Voldemort's return
The Triwizard Cup was a Portkey that delivered Harry and Cedric to a graveyard in Little Hangleton. 'Kill the spare,' Voldemort commanded, and Cedric fell lifeless in a flash of green light. Harry was bound to Tom Riddle Sr.'s grave as Voldemort used his blood to regain a body. Harry escaped through sheer will and the ghostly echoes of Voldemort's victims from Priori Incantatem.

Leading Dumbledore's Army
When the Ministry installed Dolores Umbridge and banned practical Defense Against the Dark Arts, Harry took matters into his own hands. In the Room of Requirement, he taught twenty-eight students to cast Patronuses, Shield Charms, and Stunning Spells. The DA became the backbone of student resistance and later fought bravely in the Battle of Hogwarts.

Sacrificing himself to save others and defeating Voldemort
Walking into the Forbidden Forest with the Resurrection Stone, Harry surrendered himself to Voldemort's Killing Curse without raising his wand. But because Voldemort had used Harry's blood to rebuild his body, Lily's protection lived in both of them — and Harry survived once more. In the final duel in the Great Hall at dawn, Harry's Expelliarmus met Voldemort's Avada Kedavra, and the Elder Wand flew to its true master, ending the war.
